How to Overcome Challenges within Self and Teams

Dear Freedom Achiever,

When you decide to choose to challenge, you need to have courage, foresight, resilience, and a desire for change.

Keep reading to hear from our two past clients, Natasha Johnson and Zobida Mathura, as they both share how they chose to challenge and how they grew from the experience.

Meet Natasha, Financial Services Manager

What challenge in your career did you choose to challenge that led you to work with one of BPD’s Leadership Coaches?

At that time in my career, there was a need for much more of a work life balance. I worked a lot but felt as though I needed to be also in a position where I can strategically add value and feel comfortable in attempting to do so.

I was looking for advice in areas where I thought I needed to grow professionally and socially by being more outspoken, believing in myself and being confident in what I wanted and had to say and do, without fear or doubt.

How was this challenge impacting your business/lifestyle?

There was the feeling of unfulfilled purpose, stunted growth and void. I didn’t feel as though that was me.

How were you able to overcome this challenge through coaching?

Whilst working with BPD it allowed me to redefine and rediscover my true self and purpose which helped me to build my confidence, speaking much more affirmatively and placing focus, through the techniques applied, on expressing myself by what I had to say or do. Focus was placed on the positives, resisting the negatives whilst committing to some balance in my life, both professionally and socially.

What did you enjoy most about working with one of our coaches?

How comfortable I felt whilst being as open as can be. I was able to feel free to converse and not feel judged. Support was also integral and available in and out of sessions. It was a fulfilling, learning experience.

What would you say to others with a similar challenge?

Once you are aware of your challenge(s), seek an environment where you can be free to be relaxed and express yourself.

What does the 2021 IWD #ChooseToChallenge theme mean to you?

It’s a reminder of where we came from and where we can aspire to reach. It means continuing on the path of growth because with every challenge comes lessons learnt.

Meet Zobida MathuRa, Branch Manager

What challenge in your career did you choose to challenge that led you to work with BPD trainers and coaches?

The ability to communicate with agents and staff to get better results.

How was this challenge impacting your business?

There was the feeling of always finding and looking for the answers for the agents to do better.

How were you able to overcome this challenge whilst working with your BPD leadership coach?

BPD’s method of coaching definitely assisted in finding the areas I needed to pay more attention when in a coaching situation.

What did you enjoy most about participating in BPD’s Leadership Development Programme?

The camaraderie, the honesty, the ability to share and learn from other members of the ‘class’.

What would you say to others with a similar challenge?

Share what you do, be real, be willing to try something new and practice what you learn regularly.

What does the 2021 IWD #ChooseToChallenge theme mean to you?

Take yourself to another level, be uncomfortable before becoming comfortable again.
