What is a Mastermind? and Why You Should be Part of One

Dear Freedom Achiever,
In his 1937 classic “Think and Grow Rich” Napoleon Hill explored the concept of the Mastermind as one of the keys to success which allowed businessmen at top American companies to take their personal and professional life to the next level. Since then, the Mastermind has grown from strength to strength and its increasing popularity among CEOs, top level managers, and entrepreneurs alike is based on the simple principle that two heads are better than one. When a group of like-minded people regularly meet to share their ideas, collaborate, provide support, receive feedback etc., we have what is known as a Mastermind group. Think of this group of people as a community wherein each member is on a similar journey. It isn’t unusual for a Mastermind to be led by a business coach who facilitates these regular meetings and who also weighs in to provide support, but a mastermind is not a class. In fact, the value of a mastermind is in each of its members.

What is accountability anyway?

“Mastermind participants act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates and supportive colleagues.”

The success of the group truly depends on each member’s commitment to engaging with the other participants. When participants show up ready to share their passionate energy, whether it be through brainstorming, providing feedback or giving advice, the Mastermind is transformed into a safe space where everyone not only feels more comfortable within the group, but they also trust each other enough to be vulnerable about the core issues affecting their personal and business growth.

"No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind]."

Napoleon Hill

A Mastermind can have an infinite number of benefits depending on what each member expects to get out of participating in the group. When members share their expertise based on their experiences with each other, this unique insight allows other participants to receive the type of consistent support they need to expand their approach to improving their personal and business life. In addition, the accountability that each member gets out of developing and sharing their personal and professional goals with the group is a unique opportunity to make consistent progress in reaching their goals.

If you are looking for a group of people to provide support, feedback, and advice as you undertake the task of transforming your life both personally and professionally, investing in a Mastermind group is certainly worthwhile.

This is your opportunity to develop and achieve your goals alongside a consistent and valuable support network. Here’s how one of our past Masterminder’s experience in our BPD Mastermind transformed her personal and business life:

"As a young entrepreneur, I possess the expertise to offer my service, however with running the actual business, not so much. The transition from employee to employer has been quite a challenge. Mastermind keeps me focused, disciplined, and on target. I’ve overcome a lot of the fear and anxiety that was keeping me from achieving my goals. I like that it facilitates the exchange ideas, as well as, gives support to fellow entrepreneurs. This has allowed me to find my voice. How liberating! This forum inspires critical thinking, which is essential to problem solving. Being my own boss is an important commitment and as such, Mastermind is training me to succeed, to adjust my attitude, and understand the work and PUSH needed to achieve my dream. It’s been great!
Thanks Georgina!"
